Everything you need to know. Sort of.
The Content
The content on this site is personal opinion. Where applicable, sources are quoted and content from other sources is recognized by reference to an author or title/article name. Google is your friend if you want to do a keyword search for additional material. We believe everything on this site is accurate and try to present content based on real life experiences. This means that if we say "Vista sucks because..." one- it is opinion and two- one of us or someone we know had a personal experience that prompted the piece.
The Site
We don't use popups, so if you are getting them while visiting us, it is because of spyware on your computer. We are here so you can follow some steps and make your computer better. We may not be the happiest place on earth, but you can be happier if you follow our advice. We spent quite a bit of time working with all the available
free programs to see what worked, what didn't, what was easy to use and what to do once we got them. Plus we offer other tips and tricks in the Do's and Don'ts section. If you are using Internet Explorer and some pages on this site look funny, then shame on you for not using a standards compliant web browser!
The Yak
We generally do not answer email. As much as we would like to be, we can't be your personal tech support line. We just don't have the time. We do, however, want to hear about broken links or software we recommend that isn't working. Please tell us as much relevant information as possible when writing.
We do not take phone calls as we are afraid of the phone.
The Us
We are the Invisible four. There is The B Man, The R Man and two others who wish not to be identified. None of us look like The Pretty Ms. Jennifer. We are however, techs. We all work in IT and always find ourselves answering the same questions over and over. We created the HostBlock Project so from now on, we can refer people here to get their questions answered. Please feel free to do the same. We are all middle aged geeks who like to help people. We all pitched in for the cost of this site, about seven bucks a month. If you click on an ad, we make a few cents, but if you follow our instructions, you won't see them to click on.
The Hosting
$5.99 Domains from 1&1 Hosting
With the Linux Business hosting accounts (which is what we use) you get three free domain names and the first six months are $5.00 per month. If you register more than three, they are $5.99 a year but the hosting is still $5.00 total for all your domains combined! Having Linux hosting gives you more security and more features than Microsoft hosting. Right now, Linux is used on 71% of all web servers in the world.
